Dr. Vijay Kumar, luminary roboticist, professor at U Penn, and member of the General Robotics, Automation, Sensing and Perception (GRASP) Lab is treating DARC with a glimpse into the future of automated flying robots.
His work centers on developing advanced autonomous robot swarms that are capable of collaborating on diverse tasks such as mapping, construction, environmental monitoring, and transporting materials.
Though the research is both applied and substantive, it nonetheless stirs the imagination in much the same way as great science fiction.
When you watch Dr. Kumar’s describe his work in his very well-received TED talk, it’s impossible to escape a sense of wonder—at both the promise and peril of autonomous robots.
We are incredibly enthusiastic that Dr. Kumar will be sharing his inspiring work and insight at DARC. See you at the opening keynote!
Note: Dr. Kumar will be speaking on his own behalf, and is not representing the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
