Developing a UAS Development Platform

Buddy Michini, Director of Research / Airware

What if there was a development platform that transcended traditional “black box” technology and allowed a multitude of different companies to utilize drone technology on their own terms?

There is an immense need for quality customizable software and ongoing customer support when it comes to small unmanned aircraft. Airware set out to fill that void by creating AirwareOS, a comprehensive platform for small commercial UAS development. By providing the essential elements of an operating system – hardware abstraction, a common message interface, a plug-in software architecture, drivers for popular payloads, and customer support – AirwareOS aims to shift the development focus to the application itself. Early partners are using Airware products for a wide variety of  applications ranging from prevention of animal poaching to precision agriculture to skier search and rescue missions, to name just a few.
